Today began the Tears series at our church. It’s centered around Job and the discussion of pain and suffering in our lives. It’s a powerful series in itself, but our amazing media team put together videos of some very courageous NCCers who were willing to share some of their personal stories of suffering – and renewal.
During one of those moving videos today, one of the girls talked about the impact that one of the Baptism by the Bay videos had on her, as well as a particular photo taken during her own baptism. Between the Tears videos and her words I was reminded that is why my heart is moved toward photography. I want to take pictures that make a difference in someone’s life. The ones that remind them of a truth that they know or expose them to one they’ve not yet learned. It’s such an honor to be able to pick up a camera and record such beautiful moments in people’s lives and I want to take that seriously and be responsible with that gift.
I’ve really been reminded today of the blessing it is to have each day of this thing called life and to get to experience it with the community of people that surrounds me. Today, I am very, very thankful.
